OCD stands for Obsessive compulsive disorder. In its simplest terms, there are two main parts to this disorder. There are the obsessive thoughts such as, "I have germs on me." Plus, the behavior compulsion, "therefore I must wash my hands."
The term obsession is included in that it is a thought you can not get out of your mind even after you have taken an action to take care of the original thought. Thus, making you repeat again and again a behavior in order to try to stop the obsessive thought. It is called a compulsion because you feel like you have to do the behavior or there will be dire consequences as a result of not doing the behavior. An example would be, "If I do not wash my hands, the germs on my hands could be spread and hurt or kill someone."
